Book : How to Work for Yourself by Bryan Cohen

junio 21, 2014

Hello !

I am writing this short post, because I get a sample book of Bryan Cohen on my Kindle  “How to work for yourself : 100 Ways to Make the Time, Energy and Priorities to Start a Business, Book or Blog”

And then I thought it was important to write this short post with some points of chapter 1: The Extra Hour.

Bryan Cohen Book

Very important points to consider ( on my own opinion )  in our day to day!

  1. Skip the snooze button and train yourself to get up right away in the morning.
  2. If your business, book or blog is important to you, this will be incentive enough to wake up.
  3. Prepare everything you need for the morning ahead of time.
  4. A little less TV never hurt anybody.
  5. Save yourself the double-check by focusing the first time
  6. Eat a quick, cold and healthy breakfast ( My fav )
  7. You can save aprox five minutes per day if you opt for a cold & healthy breakfast with items such as fruit, cereal & proteins bars.
  8. Find wasted time in your morning, afternoon and evening hygiene activities ( No long shower !! )
  9. Keep your phone, tablet and laptop off as long as possible throughout your day.
  10. If you can keep the phone off or in your pocket when you’re walking instead of scrolling through who knows what, you’re likely to walk faster & keep your mind clear.
  11. Delegate a chore for favor, allowance or love.
  12. Answer your email only in the morning or everning.
  13. Go to bed five minutes earlier every day and get delivery for one meal a week.
  14. You get to treat yourself for all the hard work you’ve done.
  15. Be an emotional rock!

Not too late to start or keep doing 🙂 !!

Hope you enjoy the post,

Some words before start : I have to say the only way to learn is reading, sharing your own experiences for others to learn and improve their skills also, as in this case, I did and what I will continue doing.

Something I learned when I worked at Merck & Co., was: Take risks with prudenceand I did when wrote my first post about this book-guide and now I feel more sure of myself than before, and eager to continue learning, thanks Natascha!

42 Rules

Here we go, in no particular order:

  1. Branded communities are a great way to engage with your customers, partners and other interested parties.
  2. Your role as a Social Media Professional is to facilitate or engage in ( polite ) conversation
  3. Listen before you “speak”.Don’t barge into an online conversation withouth understanding the context.
  4. Using Social Media effectively allows you to build and cultivate relationships with buyers, influencers,
  5. Be Yourself, but be Yourself at work ( Not at a bar ),chatting with colleagues in a relaxed but professional manner
  6. Becoming a thought leader is a journey not a destination.
  7. Measuring the ROI of Everything you do in Social Media takes more time and money that it is worth.
  8. Being succesful globally on Social Media is a not as simple as translating a tweet or a blog into another language. In most cases, local social media requires an understanding of “how the locals tick”.
  9. Influencers are third parties who understand your space and offering and have a following that respects their opinion and in many cases will act on it.
  10. SEO its based on the content and SMO is based on the links to the content
  11. Identify where your target audience goes to get information and engage there.
  12. Make it easy for people to contact your company when they are ready to buy.Include links or icons for email,Twitter,Facebook,LinkedIn and any other channels your monitor.
  13. After the event,we wrote a blog post with a full transcript of all the questions that attendees asked      during the webinar, along with our answer.
  14. If you have multiple target auidiences, this is the time to decide who you want to focus on first.Especially,if you are just getting started with social media, start small.
  15. You need to change your process to make social media part of your job,not an add-on.
  16. …Companies are placing higher value on social media skills..
  17. In reality, social media is just another instrument in your marketing tools kit.Like every tool, you have to spend time to learn the basics and then gather real-word experience to apply is most effectively.
  18. Identify the most promising channel for your social media marketing activity. This is the place where you are most likely to reach your objetives….
  19. The most common social media outsourcing scenarios are:
    Listening,Strategy,Campaigns,Execution.
  20. The Journey of 1000 miles begins with a simple step..

Hope you guys enjoy mi compilation I’d add this from this book ,but not like Highlights : ” By reading this book, you ( Myself JC ) now have some basic tools to understand the conversations on social media…”

junio 1, 2012

Hi Folks…Interesting Topic uh?…well we have a like a “Social Media Jungle“and is normal as Beginners that we are ..only we need focus in the “most” important….but….Meanwhile we learn every day more and know more our applications that we use day by day…and then take the next step for the others apps!

Blogs,Blogging & Bloggers

mayo 29, 2012

I am reading the book by David Meerman Scott “The New Rules of Marketing & PR” – third edition, he writes in one of its chapters about us bloggers and our world.

So I decided to write a little post about our world..

I think all of us, in contrast, the NON-Blog, we are communicators for excellence in a different way, writing or speaking, we show our own experiences or things that fascinate us..

Technology helps us communicate more and more, something that is surprising is that those people within them have or had the skills of journalists, but for various reasons, either because they are timid in real life or not find the “issue” could not communicate with the blogosphere.

Now many of those we called timid, are amazing bloggers and of them we learn a lot from them.

Blogger not be determined how many blog we post – If you have other opinion please let me know maybe i need improve more -Thank You!

This is how committed we are to the world “outsite” waiting for something interesting to share with others.

I also think it’s part of being responsible and not “play” with our target audience, have a responsibility to schedule in our daily walk and pause to share our ideas.

Many people make money with blogs, but as an expert once said in an email: JC, everything is step by step, first started as an amateur and then professional and then expert…well now I’m Amateur..

Many times we get frustrated and say that “no one” “follow me”..Ok.. ask ourselves, as did I, I am writing the right topic?, I’m writing an interesting topic?, I’m helping, to the blogosphere? My Template is serious, for my audience?

When we find the answers is then that our blog will change…

something I always keep in mind is to accept positive and negative comments, that’s what we are exposed, then the negative things Let’s get the very best to make them a new weapon to communicate.

Blogfriend hope you like my post I am not an expert in social media and I’m starting  in the blogosphere, I bought the book “WordPress” for Dummies by Lisa Sabin-Wilson , I’m not be afraid to read it .. 🙂

Remember :  If no one follows you…Another will follow you

Barnes & Noble and I

febrero 21, 2012

With the emergence of the Internet, many people remove the habit of reading a book.

But every day I’m going to enjoy at any Barnes & Noble, I’m convinced that even read!!!.

That’s why, BN not only “sells” books, BN sells quality, plus in each BN, feel an energy that surrounds us and we spend many hours reading, walking, or taking a coffee, because the alliance strategic Starbucks did with BN is the best that I saw., the best combination reading, and a Cafe.

We always find friendly, customer service they have is very good, good offers and all kinds of books

BN allows people to feel free to read “free”, that is the SECRET, that one way or another to feel that “freedom” we are always grateful and finally bought.

In my case, sometimes I carry my own book to read because BN is a place where you feel peaceful and relaxed…But I always buy my books there …my favorite authors are James Patterson,Dennis LehaneDavidBaldacci and the biographies that DK is on the shelves of BN are very good!

If you have code, you have discounts and offers, the stores always in order in all sections, all abouth the new Nook, and all the accessories that the reader needs, you can find in the BN…

I’ve a 2 BN that are my favorites : BN in Prudential and other is BN near to Kenmore Square

It is one of my favorite places on days off…If you like to read and buy books, breathe in an atmosphere full of good energy and nice: go to BN….

In conclusion, BN: Peace
